Codex77 cardsRules for game version 0.4.0

Set
Type

  • Cursed Boar Ragnar

    SoulRank 0NefariousPrototype

    • Berserk triggers only when Ragnar's attack damage brings his Attack Target to 0 HP and it is captured in that battle. A Soul captured by an effect during the battle does not count (9.5.8).
    • "Permanently" means for as long as Ragnar stays on the field. If he is returned to the hand, the bonus is gone (13.3.2).
    • Each capture adds another +10 ATK.
  • Messenger of Doom

    SoulRank 0NefariousPrototype

    • Reinforcement is optional. If you use it, you search your deck for a rank-3 Soul, show it and take it, then shuffle (15.6.2).
    • If your deck holds no rank-3 Soul, you take nothing, but the deck is still shuffled.
    • It works on any slot, also during the recruiting rounds before the first turn (8.1.2).
  • Yori

    SoulRank 0EtherealPrototype

    • Yori may declare two attacks in each of your Combat Phases, at the same target or at different ones (9.1.1).
    • An attack that is cancelled before the fight does not use up one of the two (9.5.3).
  • Amber

    SoulRank 1EtherealPrototype

    • Amber protects your other Souls whose Direct Superior is the same as hers, as long as she stands in the Front Line (9.3.1).
    • Amber herself can be attacked (9.3.2). A protected Soul with Taunt of rank 1 or higher can be attacked too (9.3.3).
    • An attacker that is Unyielding and of rank 1 or higher ignores her Taunt (9.3.5).
    • Taunt does not protect against effects (9.3.4).
  • Deceitful Devil #2

    SoulRank 1NefariousPrototype

    • Precision ignores the target's whole DEF, including bonuses such as Castle Wall (9.4.2).
    • It does not change damage from a Realm's counterblow.
  • Harold

    SoulRank 1NefariousPrototype

    • Your other Souls have Defiance only while Harold is himself a valid Attack Target: active and in the Front Line. Whether a Taunt protects him makes no difference.
    • The Defiance counts as a rank-1 effect, because Harold grants it. An Unyielding attacker of rank 1 or higher takes no damage from it (13.2.2).
    • A Soul that already has Defiance deals both amounts (13.4.1). The granted Defiance is not Harold's own: Harold himself has no Defiance.
  • Three Eyed Monk Taro

    SoulRank 1EtherealPrototype

    • You look at the top three cards, put one into your hand and the others on the bottom in the order you choose. The deck is not shuffled (15.6.3).
    • With fewer than three cards in the deck you look at what is there. With an empty deck nothing happens.
  • ÆON

    SoulRank 2EtherealPrototype

    • Moral reaches every one of your Souls further out on ÆON's branch, not only the next slot (5.1.2). ÆON does not gain the bonus himself.
    • The bonus ends when ÆON is captured or leaves the field.
  • Head Nurse Jeanne

    SoulRank 2EtherealPrototype

    • "The Second Line or lower" means the Front Line or the Second Line: lines count from the front (5.2.3). From the Third Line or further back, Jeanne can't use her effect.
    • The condition is checked when you activate the effect, not again when it resolves (11.3.1).
    • "Any Soul" lets her target an active Soul in any line, yours or your opponent's (11.4.2). She can't target a Soul that is Unyielding against her (an opposing one of rank 2 or higher).
    • She heals at most the damage the Soul has (14.2.1). Her slot must be proactive (8.1.1).
  • Noah

    SoulRank 2EtherealPrototype

    • Noah ignores opposing effects of rank 2 or lower that target him, Static Effects and Instant Effects (13.6.1).
    • Your own effects still reach him, such as the DEF of Castle Wall (13.6.7).
    • He can't be targeted by Cyber-Wormhole (rank 2), but Mystic Wormhole (rank 3) reaches him (13.6.3).
    • He ignores the Taunt of opposing Souls of rank 2 or lower when he attacks (9.3.5), and Defiance of rank 2 or lower does not hurt him.
  • Sea Urchin General

    SoulRank 2NefariousPrototype

    • Defiance deals 10 damage to the attacker at the same moment as the attack damage, even if the General drops to 0 HP from that attack (9.5.6).
    • It does not trigger when the General attacks. It does trigger when Confusion makes the General battle itself, if it still has HP after its own attack.
    • An Unyielding attacker of rank 2 or higher takes no damage from it.
  • Aurelia

    Soul · LeaderRank 3EtherealPrototype

    • You discard one card when the effect resolves, then search your deck for a Light Soul of rank 1 or lower, show it and take it; then shuffle (15.6.2).
    • Twice per duel and once per turn. As a Leader, Aurelia can use it from your fourth turn on (8.3.1).
  • Mammon

    Soul · LeaderRank 3NefariousPrototype

    • You may activate the effect even with fewer than two cards in hand, but the cost can't be paid then, so it does not resolve and draws nothing (11.5.2). The use still counts (11.7.3).
    • Twice per duel and once per turn. If Mammon somehow left the field and came back, his limits would start again (11.7.2).
    • As a Leader on the altar, Mammon can use his effect from your fourth turn on, when the altar becomes proactive (8.3.1).
  • Sylva

    SoulRank 3EtherealPrototype

    • Sylva counts every captured Soul anywhere further out on her branch, not only directly in front of her (18.2.1).
    • When such a Soul is exiled (by Final Resting Place, for example), it no longer counts.
  • Tezcat, The Nocturnal

    SoulRank 3NefariousPrototype

    • "Any Soul of Rank 2 or lower" may be yours or your opponent's, in any line (11.4.2).
    • Whether the target is Dark is checked when the effect resolves (11.3.2). A Dark target gains Unyielding, any other gains +15 ATK, both for as long as it stays on the field.
    • The discard is paid when the effect resolves; with an empty hand it does not resolve.
    • A Dark Soul that already has Unyielding gains nothing new.
  • Blessing of the Fae

    EventRank 0EtherealPrototype

    • The Direct Superior of the Caster gains Range, not the Caster (5.1.3).
    • Whether the Direct Superior is Light is checked when the Event resolves. If it is not, the discard is still paid (11.5.4).
    • The Range lasts this turn. If the Caster is your Leader, it has no Direct Superior, and nothing happens.
  • Life Through Death

    EventRank 1NefariousPrototype

    • Only a Dark Soul may cast it (10.2.2). The Caster gains Berserk until the end of the turn.
    • The heal triggers only when the Caster captures its Attack Target with its own attack damage (9.5.8). It heals at most the damage the Caster has.
  • Confusion

    EventRank 2NefariousPrototype

    • The targeted Soul battles itself: it takes its own ATK minus its own DEF (9.6.4).
    • The battle counts as an attack: the target's Defiance strikes the target too, if it still has HP after its own attack. A Soul that cannot attack (Frozen, Chrome Chains) does not battle at all (9.6.3).
    • It does not count against attack limits and ignores proactive slots and when the Soul was recruited (9.6.2).
    • The Caster pays 10 HP times the target's rank when the Event resolves: nothing for a rank-0 target (14.3.2). Paying can capture the Caster; the battle still happens, unless the Caster was the target itself. A Leader Caster captured this way loses at once.
    • If the target is Unyielding against Confusion by the time it resolves, nothing happens to it (11.6.4).
  • Final Resting Place

    EventRank 2EtherealPrototype

    • The target is a captured Soul with no captured Souls further out on its branch, on either side of the field.
    • The discarded card must have the same rank as the target and the opposite attribute. If you have none when the Event resolves, it does not resolve.
    • Exiling the captured Soul frees its slot, so Souls can be recruited there and past it again (15.3.2).
  • Baltic Blizzard

    EventRank 3NefariousPrototype

    • You target a Soul Spot, empty or not, on either side. Any Soul on that slot is Frozen while it stays there, including one that arrives later, until the end of your opponent's next turn (13.3.3).
    • The Blizzard does not target the Soul, so Unyielding does not stop it (13.6.7). It does count as targeting the slot, so a Principle of Stolen Energy at that slot may answer it.
    • A second Blizzard on the same slot runs alongside the first; the slot stays Frozen until the later one ends (13.3.4).
  • Gravity Shield Taikaha

    ArmamentRank 2NefariousPrototype

    • The equipped Soul gains Taunt over your Souls of its attribute with a lower rank than its own, while it stands in the Front Line (9.3.1).
    • For Unyielding, the source of this Taunt is the Armament (rank 2), not the Soul (9.3.5). Which Souls with Taunt of their own stay attackable inside the radius is decided by the Wielder's rank (9.3.3).
    • If the Wielder is captured, the Armament goes to the Elysium and the Taunt ends.
  • Chrome Chains

    AmbushRank 0NefariousPrototype

    • "Any Soul" reaches an active Soul in any line (11.4.2), as long as its attribute is the opposite of the Ambusher's.
    • Sprung in answer to an attack, it cancels the attack before the fight; the attack does not count, and your opponent may attack with another Soul instead (9.5.3).
    • A Soul that cannot attack is not made to battle by Confusion either.
  • Principle of Stolen Energy

    AmbushRank 1EtherealPrototype

    • It can be sprung only in the window in which an effect that targets the Ambusher, or the Ambusher's Soul Spot, goes on the Cascade, while that effect is on top (12.6.1).
    • It can't answer Instant Effects, which never go on the Cascade, nor effects that don't target, such as Defiance (12.6.3).
    • The negated effect does not resolve and its cost is not paid (11.5.3).
    • It can't negate an effect of a Soul that is Unyielding against it (rank 1 or higher). The Ambusher still gains +25 ATK and +15 DEF: the two parts are independent (13.6.5).
  • Reckless Counter

    AmbushRank 1NefariousPrototype

    • Only a Dark Soul can spring it (10.4.3). The Ambusher gains Defiance until the end of the turn; its damage is the Ambusher's ATK minus the attacker's DEF at the moment it is dealt.
    • The Ambusher is captured after a battle in which it was the Attack Target, in that battle's aftermath (9.5.9). If it only attacks another card, or does not battle this turn, it stays; in a battle against itself (Confusion) it is the Attack Target and is captured.
    • If the Ambusher was already captured in the battle, nothing more happens.
  • Cyber-Wormhole

    AmbushRank 2EtherealPrototype

    • The target is a Soul Spot with an active Soul in the Front Line on it. Because the target names the Soul, it targets that Soul too: a Soul that is Unyielding against it (rank 2 or higher) can't be chosen (11.4.5).
    • The discard (as many cards of the Soul's attribute as its rank) is paid when the Ambush resolves. The HP check comes after: if the Soul has more than half its maximum HP, it stays, and the cards stay discarded (11.5.4).
    • "Half" is exact: a Soul with 45 maximum HP is retracted at 22.5 HP or less, so at 20 (14.1.2).
    • A Leader can't be retracted (15.4.1). A retracted Soul takes its Armament back to the hand.
  • Mystic Wormhole

    AmbushRank 3EtherealPrototype

    • The target is a Soul Spot with an active Soul in the Front Line of the Ambusher's attribute on it, on either side. It targets that Soul too, so Unyielding of rank 3 protects against it.
    • The Soul moves to an empty slot of exactly its rank where its controller could recruit it, never onto a slot directly under its own. You choose the slot; if there is none, it stays (15.2.1).
    • It keeps its damage, bonuses and Armament; Ambushes stay at the old slot (15.2.4). A Leader never moves.
  • Castle Wall

    RealmRank 1EtherealPrototype

    • Every one of your Souls gains +5 DEF, wherever it stands, for as long as the Realm is active. The Realm itself does not gain it (13.1.3).
    • When the Realm shatters, the bonus ends.
  • Blood Thrall

    SoulRank 0NefariousBanners of the Rift

    • After every battle it fights, as attacker or Attack Target, it heals 10 if it is still active (9.5.9).
  • Covenant Cutthroat

    SoulRank 0NefariousBanners of the Rift

    • If you use Reinforcement, the Cutthroat pays 10 HP when it resolves and gains +15 ATK for as long as it stays on the field.
    • If paying would capture it, the ATK bonus has no Soul left to go to.
  • Frost Wisp

    SoulRank 0NefariousBanners of the Rift

    • If you use Reinforcement, the targeted opposing Soul in the Front Line cannot attack until the end of your opponent's next turn.
  • Ilse

    SoulRank 0EtherealBanners of the Rift

    • Whenever Ilse is attacked, your Leader is healed by 10 at once, at the moment of the attack (9.5.6). Other Leader cards you recruited as ordinary Souls are healed too (2.5.3).
    • It triggers in battles that count as attacks, including Confusion.
  • Morning Acolyte

    SoulRank 0EtherealBanners of the Rift

    • Heals the Acolyte's Direct Superior: the nearest active Soul towards the Leader (5.1.3).
    • If that Soul has no damage, nothing happens.
  • Plague Leech

    SoulRank 0NefariousBanners of the Rift

    • Defiance deals 10 to the attacker at the same moment as the attack damage (9.5.6). An Unyielding attacker is unaffected.
  • Rime Scout

    SoulRank 0NefariousBanners of the Rift

    • You look at the top two cards, put one into your hand and the other on the bottom (15.6.3).
  • Skyforge Recruit

    SoulRank 0EtherealBanners of the Rift

    • Each time the Recruit captures its Attack Target with its own attack damage, it gains +5 ATK for as long as it stays on the field.
  • Wren

    SoulRank 0EtherealBanners of the Rift

    • Wren may attack from the Front Line or the Second Line (9.1.1). She can only be attacked while she stands in the Front Line.
  • Ashen Martyr

    SoulRank 1NefariousBanners of the Rift

    • Whenever the Martyr takes damage (more than 0), your other Souls in the Front Line gain +5 ATK until the end of the turn (14.1.5).
    • When it is attacked, it works even if the attack captures it, because nothing is captured before the capture step (9.5.6). Damage from an effect outside a battle that captures it ends its effect before it resolves.
  • Brannoc

    SoulRank 1EtherealBanners of the Rift

    • Your rank-0 Souls gain +5 ATK while Brannoc is active.
  • Crimson Duelist

    SoulRank 1NefariousBanners of the Rift

    • Berserk heals 20 when the Duelist captures its Attack Target with its own attack damage (9.5.8).
  • Glacial Archivist

    SoulRank 1NefariousBanners of the Rift

    • Unyielding against opposing effects of rank 1 or lower (13.6.1).
  • Lysandra

    SoulRank 1NefariousBanners of the Rift

    • Targets an opposing Soul in the Front Line. Lysandra pays 10 HP when the effect resolves, then deals 15 to the target (11.5.1).
    • Her slot must be proactive. A target that is Unyielding against her (rank 1 or higher) can't be chosen.
  • Matthias

    SoulRank 1EtherealBanners of the Rift

    • Protects your rank-0 Souls from attacks while Matthias stands in the Front Line (9.3.1).
    • Matthias himself can be attacked. An Unyielding attacker of rank 1 or higher ignores his Taunt.
  • Shade of Silence

    SoulRank 1NefariousBanners of the Rift

    • You discard one card when the effect resolves; then your opponent chooses and discards one card from their hand (15.6.4).
    • With an empty hand you can't pay, so your opponent discards nothing.
  • Sister of Mercy

    SoulRank 1EtherealBanners of the Rift

    • Targets one of your active Souls in any line (11.4.2), the Sister herself included.
  • Thunder Squire

    SoulRank 1EtherealBanners of the Rift

    • If you use Reinforcement, you search your deck for an Armament of rank 1 or lower, show it and take it; then shuffle (15.6.2).
  • Ewald

    SoulRank 2EtherealBanners of the Rift

    • Ewald is Unyielding against opposing effects of rank 2 or lower (13.6.1), and his Moral gives +5 DEF to every one of your Souls further out on his branch.
  • Frost Colossus

    SoulRank 2NefariousBanners of the Rift

    • Protects your Souls of rank 0 and 1 from attacks while the Colossus stands in the Front Line (9.3.1). An Unyielding attacker of rank 2 or higher ignores it.
  • Liora

    SoulRank 2EtherealBanners of the Rift

    • Liora may attack from the Second Line and ignores the target's DEF.
  • Morwen

    SoulRank 2NefariousBanners of the Rift

    • Your other Souls gain Berserk "Heal this Soul by 20" while Morwen is active. A Soul with Berserk of its own has both (13.4.1).
  • Ulmo

    SoulRank 2NefariousBanners of the Rift

    • Ulmo can use his effect from the Front Line or the Second Line, not from further back (5.2.3).
    • The Frozen stays with the slot: any Soul on it is Frozen until the end of your opponent's next turn, including one recruited there later (13.3.3). It does not target the Soul, so Unyielding does not stop it.
  • Vargr

    SoulRank 2NefariousBanners of the Rift

    • Berserk draws one card when Vargr captures its Attack Target with its own attack damage. With an empty deck nothing is drawn.
  • Lucan

    SoulRank 3EtherealBanners of the Rift

    • Your other Souls gain +5 DEF while Lucan is active.
    • After every battle Lucan fights, as attacker or as Attack Target, he heals 20, if he is still active (9.5.9).
  • Nyx

Soul · LeaderRank 3NefariousBanners of the Rift

    • Used in your own Preparation Phase, it keeps the targeted opposing Soul from attacking until the end of your opponent's next turn, so through their whole turn.
    • Twice per duel, once per turn, from your fourth turn on (8.3.1).
  • Oblivion Maw

    SoulRank 3NefariousBanners of the Rift

    • If you use Reinforcement, you may retract an opposing Soul of rank 1 or lower in any line, with its Armament (15.1.2).
    • Unyielding does not protect against it: the Maw is rank 3, higher than any Soul it may target (13.6.3). A Leader can't be retracted.
  • Seraphine

Soul · LeaderRank 3EtherealBanners of the Rift

    • Heals every one of your Souls by 20, in every line, the Leader included. Each heals at most its own damage (14.2.1).
    • The heal does not target, so it can't be answered as a targeting effect.
  • Sigrun

    SoulRank 3EtherealBanners of the Rift

    • Sigrun may declare two attacks in each of your Combat Phases.
  • Valka

Soul · LeaderRank 3EtherealBanners of the Rift

    • The targeted Soul gains Dual Wielding until the end of the turn. Valka's effect is not Fast, so it is used in your Preparation Phase, before any attack; the Soul may then declare two attacks in the Combat Phase.
    • Twice per duel, once per turn, from your fourth turn on (8.3.1).
  • Vesper

Soul · LeaderRank 3NefariousBanners of the Rift

    • Vesper pays 10 HP when the effect resolves; this is damage and could capture her, which would end the duel (14.3.1).
    • Twice per duel, once per turn, from your fourth turn on (8.3.1).
  • Pact of Blood

    EventRank 0NefariousBanners of the Rift

    • The Caster pays 20 HP when the Event resolves. Paying can capture the Caster; you still draw two cards (11.5.5), unless the Caster is your Leader: then you lose at once (16.1.1).
  • Whispers of the Deep

    EventRank 0NefariousBanners of the Rift

    • You discard one card as the cost; then your opponent discards one card of their choice and you draw one.
  • Charge of the Vanguard

    EventRank 1EtherealBanners of the Rift

    • Every one of your Souls in the Front Line when the Event resolves gains +10 ATK until the end of the turn. A Soul that steps into the Front Line later does not.
  • Cold Embrace

    EventRank 1NefariousBanners of the Rift

    • The targeted opposing Soul cannot attack until the end of your opponent's next turn, and you draw a card. If the target is gone when it resolves, you still draw (11.6.3).
  • Dawnbreak Hymn

    EventRank 1EtherealBanners of the Rift

    • Heals each of your Souls that stands in the Front Line when the Event resolves.
  • Crimson Rite

    EventRank 2NefariousBanners of the Rift

    • Targets one of your own Souls in any line, never a card with the label Leader, not even one recruited as an ordinary Soul (2.5.3). It is captured whatever its HP (14.4.4).
    • Then all of your Souls gain +20 ATK until the end of the turn.
    • If the target has left before the Event resolves, the ATK bonus still applies (11.6.3).
  • Thunderclap

    EventRank 2EtherealBanners of the Rift

    • "Any opposing Soul" reaches every line, so Thunderclap can hit the opposing Leader (11.4.2).
    • A target that is Unyielding against it (rank 2 or higher) can't be chosen.
  • Aegis of Dawn

    ArmamentRank 1EtherealBanners of the Rift

    • The equipped Soul gains Unyielding. The protection compares with the Soul's own rank: on a rank-0 Soul it protects only against rank-0 effects (13.6.3).
    • The Armament's rank (1) is what the Soul's slot must allow.
  • Skyforge Hammer

    ArmamentRank 1EtherealBanners of the Rift

    • The equipped Soul gains Precision.
  • Thirsting Blade

    ArmamentRank 1NefariousBanners of the Rift

    • The equipped Soul gains Berserk "Heal this Soul by 20".
  • Stormspear

    ArmamentRank 2EtherealBanners of the Rift

    • The equipped Soul gains Range. The Armament needs a slot of rank 2 or higher.
  • Undertow

    AmbushRank 0NefariousBanners of the Rift

    • The targeted opposing Soul gets −15 ATK until the end of the turn. Sprung in answer to its attack, this lowers the damage it deals in that battle.
  • Vow of Light

    AmbushRank 0EtherealBanners of the Rift

    • Only a Light Soul can spring it. The Ambusher gains Defiance 15 until the end of the turn; sprung in answer to an attack on it, it strikes the attacker in that battle (9.5.6).
  • Mercy's Veil

    AmbushRank 1EtherealBanners of the Rift

    • Targets one of your Souls in any line. It heals 30 and the Soul gains +10 DEF until the end of the turn, even if there was nothing to heal.
  • Stormward

    AmbushRank 1EtherealBanners of the Rift

    • Targets one of your Souls in any line; it gains +20 DEF until the end of the turn. Sprung in answer to an attack on it, the DEF counts in that battle.
  • Vein Snare

    AmbushRank 1NefariousBanners of the Rift

    • Deals 20 to an opposing Soul in the Front Line and heals the Ambusher by 20. The heal happens even if the target is gone (11.6.3).
  • Skyforge Anvil

    RealmRank 1EtherealBanners of the Rift

    • Your Souls in the Front Line gain +5 ATK, and lose it the moment they leave the Front Line.
  • Tome of the Long Night

    RealmRank 1NefariousBanners of the Rift

    • Opposing rank-0 Souls get −5 ATK while the Realm is active. Even an Unyielding rank-0 Soul is affected, because the Realm's rank (1) is higher (13.6.3).
  • Sanctuary of First Light

    RealmRank 2EtherealBanners of the Rift

    • Your Leader gains +10 DEF for as long as the Realm is active. Other Leader cards you recruited as ordinary Souls gain it too (2.5.3).
