Online play

The time limit, what happens when time runs out or a connection breaks, and server updates.

CodexChapter 17 of 18Rules for game version 0.4.0

17.1Time limit

  1. 17.1.1

    Whoever opens an online duel chooses the time limit: Off (the default) or Normal. Ranked duels, which the matchmaker starts, always use Normal.

  2. 17.1.2

    Normal gives each player:

    1. 90 seconds per own turn for the decisions of their Preparation, Combat and Emplacement Phases, a pool that runs only while they decide and is refilled every turn;
    2. 30 seconds for every other decision (a response, a choice, priority);
    3. 60 seconds for choosing the Leader and for the mulligan.

17.2When time runs out

  1. 17.2.1

    When a player's time runs out, the server decides for them: it passes or ends the phase where that is allowed, and otherwise makes the choice the computer opponent would make on Easy.

  2. 17.2.2

    A player whose time runs out three times in a row loses. Any decision of their own resets the count.

17.3Lost connections

  1. 17.3.1

    When a player's connection breaks, the duel waits 120 seconds for them; the time limit stands still meanwhile. A player who does not come back loses.

  2. 17.3.2

    If both players are gone, the duel waits 30 minutes and then ends without a winner.

17.4Server updates

  1. 17.4.1

    When the server restarts with the same rules version, running duels go on. When the rules version changes, running duels end without a winner, marked as ended by a server update.
